We’re excited to share a few updates to Children’s Church that will begin on Sunday, February 1. These changes are designed to help things run more smoothly and to support both our children and the adults who care for them.
Meet Valerie
First, we’re delighted to let you know that Valerie Bush will begin leading Children’s Church in February, on an interim basis as we continue to navigate Teila’s departure. We’re grateful for Valerie’s presence and the care she will bring to the kids at Brentwood. We’ll keep you posted as the search for a new staff person continues, but in the meantime you can learn more about Valerie here, if you don’t know her already.
Let’s make it easier to check-in your kids
Alongside that, Elizabeth Rodwell will start managing the check-ins next to Room 14, helping ensure a smooth and welcoming start for children and families each week. For added convenience, we’ve also added a new check-in station at the name tag table, complete with a printer for name tags. Families are welcome to use either check-in location, whichever works best for you.
New pick-up time and location
One important change to note involves pick-up time. Instead of picking up children after the main worship service ends, parents and grownups will now meet their children in the back of the sanctuary just before sharing in communion. The kids will be brought back into the sanctuary at 10:50, and when you get up for communion you can meet them along the back wall of the sanctuary, where they will be with our staff and volunteers. This allows children to rejoin the congregation at a meaningful moment in the service and helps keep things flowing well for everyone.
We’re thankful for the trust you place in us and for the joy your children bring to our community. If you have any questions or need help navigating these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help.
And one quick favor, if you’ve got time: Could you fill out this brief questionnaire to let us know which activities your kids participated in last year so we can best plan for this year? That would be a huge help for us. Thanks in advance!
